Technology Assignment for March 19, 2010

Research a well-known example of technology and provide the following information:
1. What is the name of the invention?
2. Who invented it?
3. When was it invented?
4. Where was it invented?
5. Why was it invented?
6. What is its purpose?
7. Include several pictures/diagrams of the invention.
8. Include a slide with an Internet link to a video showing the invention being used/created.
9. Include a slide with an Internet link to a biograpy of the inventor (ex: wikipedia)

Examples you may want to research are: VCRs, DVDs, records, radio, television, blender, refridgerator, toaster, dental floss, cell phone.

To add an Internet link to a PowerPoint on a PC:

1. Create the slide and find the website page with the video.
2. On the website page, highlight the address and right click to COPY.
3.In the slideshow document, highlight the words that will be linked.
4. Select INSERT from the PowerPoint toolbar.
4. Select HYPERLINK.
4. In the ADDRESS box, paste (or CONTROL V) the website address from your video.
6. Click OK.
7. Now view the PowerPoint in order to check that your link is active.

To add sounds to your PowerPoint on a PC:
1. Select the slide you want to work with.
2. From the toolbar, select INSERT, then MOVIES AND SOUNDS.
3. Select the sound you want for that slide.
4. Select the next slide you want to work on and repeat for additional sounds.

To add sounds to your PowerPoint on a MAC:
1. Select the slide you want to work with.
2. From the toolbar (top of the page), select SLIDESHOW, then ACTION BUTTONS, then SOUND..
3. Click on the slide to bring up the Action Settings window.
4. Click on the drop down window to choose the sound you want.


To add animation to your PowerPoint on a PC:
1. Select the slide you want to work with.
2. From the toolbar, select DESIGN and then ANIMATIONS.
3. Click on the animation you want.
4. Select the next slide you want to work on and repeat for additional animations.

To add animation to your PowerPoint on a MAC:
1. Select the slide you want to work with.
2. From the toolbar, select SLIDESHOW and then TRANSITIONS.
3. Click on the transition you want.
4. Select the next slide you want to work on and repeat for additional animations.
